Sorry if this has already made it to the buzz. skip to about 1:45. I didn't know the concept was actually this old. I guess you could call it the HAAS 2.0 because he clips it to his boot.

I saw that video a couple years ago and made a similar device using a Petzl chest ascender and a foot-loop. The HAAS works just as well, but I found it's easier for me to remove my homemade rig from my foot once aloft.

I bought one of the first HAAS released on the market and it is still a good unit but the braid around the footloop is starting to fray and the prussic style of the foot loop was never the best but it has been a excellent work tool

Yep. Bought the full Working Climber dvd series when I first started, best investment I made probably. I still say " hurtin for certain" and laugh. Not into putting people on pedestals but when I talk about Gerry to a non industry person I describe him by calling him the "father of modern day tree climbing", i don't know how accurate that is but from my limited perspective it seems that way. The guy seems like a treasure chest of climbing and rigging tricks. Loaned the DVDs out and never got them back, sucks having careless friends. One day I'd like to have all his books and films.

It was called the DLRW (double line rope walker). I made a home made one as well. It worked.
