The most wrecked chipper knives I've ever seen.

The knives had been changed about a week earlier. I think they may have forced a t-post through within a pile of brush and branches, feeding it with a Bobcat T86. I had gone home early that day, and the rest of the crew all got fired the next day. I have never seen that kind of carnage. The clutch was roasted, and several several other significant metal components were just snapped in two.

They got fired for it? Man. That’s rough all the way around.
That was just the straw that broke the camels back. From my second hand knowledge of things, it does seem that one of the guys was probably trying to get fired. I don't think he understands how unemployment works. There are some layers to the story, and it was not a one off event

My crew did a small chipping job this week and the next day we changed the blades. On one of the blades there was a chip on the cutting edge about the size of half a dime. Was a new set of blades when we installed them. The customer called and asked why we didn’t do a better job on the brush cleanup. I told them that we chip brush and when we start encountering rocks, bricks, and construction debris we stop chipping.

He said he would pay us to come back with the dump trailer and root grapple to finish the job.

Seeing Phils pictures, I am inclined to believe it was concrete. There was an old driveway at that site that should have been part of the first phase of cleanup, and I could see chunks of that getting to where we were working

I think that I spend more time prepping since I don't have 3 groundies waiting on brush to hit the ground.

Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

I try to apply this more as I grow.

Washing a machine and cleaning your working area before working on them helps.

Cleaning and prepping a work site feels similar.

That makes sense. Lame that he would handle it that way.
