The Bore Cut

I recently made my first big move from one company to another. And there are some pretty big differences. One is how you bore cut. I was always taught to make the bypass below the back strap and they are trlling me above. Which is it?

Below. That way if it snaps while you are cutting the backstrap it won't take the saw out of your hands.
