.... that's exactly what I'm thinking ... mini with half inch rig line .....in conjunction with the GRCS ....

I do this all the time, but the med. sized Porty works a lot better than the mini IMO. I've used them both in the above scenario.

Where can I get the small rubber pads for the GRCS?
I see tree supply companies selling the large pads but haven't seen anyone selling the small ones.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would contact Greg Good directly.

. I REALLY blew the bid on the current job ... we WILL get through it !

this is a great comfort to me; I thought only I did this kind of stuff.

Borrow the money for it if you have to and it is one piece of equip that will be well worth the payments. It also impresses the he** out of the clients. One guy told me that the winch alone was 5G; I didn't say a word.

use a truck flap

I got mine from sherrill. I just ordered the big ones and then asked if they had or could get the small ones. The big ones came 3 days later, and a week after that I got the rest directly from Gregg.

I just bought the GRCS from Shayne and used it on the job today for the first time. All I can say is 'where have you been all my life'. This thing is great. We took down a half dead ash and once I gained a little trust in the unit, I couldn't believe how easy it was to tip tie and winch huge pieces from over the house. Here's a pic of one of the limbs we took when we first started. The brush pieces got bigger as we went and we ended up taking about 20' of the left trunk in one 'pick'. I'm lovin' this thing. Thank you Mr. Good.

... hoisted large old Hemlock limbs away from 1900's era slate roofing today .... with a tip tie rigged to the GRCS and and the climber controlling the butt with another line we safely brought down material under full control in probably the smallest hole ever ...

Have yet to have the pleasure to use a GRCS. I wouldn't mind getting a job with Greg Good. Looks like he's got all the nifty gear. Think he ever has room for chips on his truck, or is all the box space taken up with cool toys.

I have an old mud flap on the truck. I put a short tring on both sides in the top corners. This way i can hang the flap on the tree tie it there than proceed to install the GRCS. It is easy and works great

Keep an eye on your riggging points. You will be suprised the unbeleavable pressure you can creat with this device. Iv riged this devise up to help winch trees over when I couldent get a truck close enough. This thing is the cats meow.well worth the $$$.Thanks Gregg.
