TCI's Effer 655 Knuckle Boom

I love the road sign at the end. Phil from Treestuff gave me a couple a few years ago. Really come in handy in tight neighborhoods. He hands them to me and says,"Totally unenforceable, but worth a shot".:whistle:

IDK, maybe you guys actually called the city. We just use the sign and pray there's no cars in the morning!
 
Could someone tell me why he was always making is first cut perpendicular to the ground. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I usually explained things with my hands. Just curious, always looking to learn something new.

Its called a shelf cut. It creates a little ledge for the piece to kind of sit on so it doesn't roll or tip too much as it settles in the rigging. Just makes for a smoother pick.
