Any Buzzers going this year?

Well, looks like my family is going for the first time ever.

Really looking forward to it and meeting people.

We really wanted to go, then added up the trip and it was WAY too expensive.

so we thought we couldn't afford it.

then we came up with good ways to trim down the expenses and it turns out we got it down to a figure we can afford.

I surely don't want to stear anyone away from the Westin or the whole package, but if those prices are going to keep you from going, PM me and I'll tell you what our plan is.

I checked with TCIA. You can choose to stay where you wish.

I just thought I might be able to help someone out with info to bring the costs down to something they can afford.

But time is running out very FAST!

Yes of course!

And part of my budget plan is that you are buying the beer. Just thought i should let you know.

I have researched the island pretty good and let me know if anyone wants to team up with some non-commercial snorkling dives. There's a cool wreck in shallow water I want to go to. I will have researched a lot more by the time of the trip too. I don't sit around much, I will for a day or two, but that will give me my fill. Then i gotta explore and catch things.

I'm not going on any of the advertised tours in the program. They just costs too darn much for three people. We might schedule our own though, about 3x less $.

My wife an i are both certified in scuba, we might go on one dive after we check the prices and feel comfortable leaving our girl for a little while at hotel's daycare.

Dave,

Let's hook up for the snorkeling and scuba trips! I'm with you in that i'm turned off buy the overly commercial/head boats these type of places typically offer.

Send me over your contact info and i'll do the same..

Sorry for not being in touch, I researched at first, then haven't had time since. I am here now!!!!! I am 1.5 Mile south of the Westin, at Comfort Inn suites. I have a rental car too with the $ we saved. Beautiful here, just arrived today mid day. My hotel has free wifi, westin charges like $14 a day I think. Beach is FULL of coral peices, I'm very eager to get in water, looks extremely promising. There is a small wreck south of me I found on google earth, called Gamma wreck. Not a tourist thing, looks promising for shadow water snorkle. One hotel near westin has a man made floating reef right off the beach that I read was good. Barkers park might be good. Might drive over to rum point and swim/walk out to stingray city ourselves if not too far, I'll measure on google earth maybe. Hotel has some good brochures n magazines. A big ship called kittiwake was sunk on purpose recently. Looks cool on pictures, probably has some fish hanging out yet, but no way coral growing yet, so likely kinda lifeless. I'm writing this on my phone with hotel wifi. Prepare for everything to be expensive. Grocery stores n liquor stores closed on Sunday. Write me at: thexmanjdd(at)yahoo(dot com). if u want to converse. Or maybe I just post here any positive things I find out, n u guys can check in. hey, yeah, maybe all of u can contribute good things u find out right on here. Coconut joes, a little outside resturant n bar on West Bay drive 1.5 mile south of Westin was good tonight. Fish n chips good, its fresh grouper. 3 meals, 2 beers, equaled $56 which is cheap for here.

I see coconut trees every where. I brought a decent knife, so I'll be climbing some n get some fresh coconut milk.

See lizard tracks n holes everywhere, so can't wait to see what morning sun brings out. Saw what resembled bohiemian curly tailed lizard. Can't wait to see a blue iguana. Also lesser iguanas here too.

Going to bed early to get going early.

Straight flight from Philly, 4hr. Will be 3 going back

OH ! If u drink alcohol and want something at ur room, buy at airport in the US, they will help u to make sure u don't buy too much. Customs, here doesn't want u to bring a ton of it. Alcohol REALLY expensive here, so we read.

wow, it's great here. first full day today. Iguanas and curly tailed lizards everywhere, haven't caught one quite yet, but have come close, have touched many of them.

right off my beach is man made concrete reef starter things. plenty of fish. tangs, trigger fish, needle fish, see urchins, star fish, all most caught a cow fish by hand, spotted drum, parrot fish, fairy basslet, few good size barracuda (i worried about my wedding ring finger a bit) and many more fish that i don't know.

take some bread out there and some white colored fish and some spotted drum go crazy for it, eat out of your hand, don't let kids do it, cause they bite a bit hard. about 50 fish at a time!

I picked up my TCIA package at around 3pm.

Hope to see you all at Monday breakfast, educational seminars and later in the day the Newcomer Meet and Greet.
