swivel on climbing line

who out there is using a swivel on their climbing line. I have been looking at the large petzl. I am not sure how it will work with the hitchclimber I am thinking it will take 1 more karb. and it might be a pain when putting a sling off my brige when hip thrusting/limb walking. I would like to see what you guys are doing and how it works.. Thanks Tom

I have the small swivel and wouldn't climb w/o it. I love the thing. I climb on a master saddle with a bridge i have attached to the outer leg loops, and the swivel is attached to my bridge.

Not sure if you have seen them both together, the large and small. It's just that the large is very large. It is designed to hold more than one carabiner, and for that matter more than one person. I personally think it is over kill, unless your planning on useing a second tie in point, and tieing it into the swivel. Then the large is what you need.

My only complaint is that sometimes it will side-load my carabiner as it slips through the swivel as Iam climbing. All that means is you have to pay alittle more attention to it!!! But my overall rating is about a 9.5 out of 10.

I would think that a swivel on your harness would only be good if you have one on your tie in point no! I mean, its nice that the lines are kinda straight on your saddle but won't that just twist the line up higher?

I have one , used to use it alot , did'nt seem to make a big difference , (think it was an impulse buy) hav'nt used it for quite awhile. I like family's idea of attaching another at the tie in point, think it would work better that way. Making it safe and all legal could be a bit of a challenge!

are these swivels rated for life support? I almost did the same impulse buy but the sherrill vermeer store never had any instock ( or anything worth buying at that )

Makeing a swivel at the TIP wouldn't be that hard. Can you run the rope directly through the swivel on a large one or I there too little surface to run the rope through it?

Damn it now I have to buy one. Thanks

Yes , no problem running the rope through the large swivel. I thought you might want to attach a biner and block to the swivel and make the whole system retrievable.
