Sweat Bees

I know it’s not a pest for any trees. But my rental had quite a sweat bee hatch a few days ago according to my tenant. I went the second day and they were pretty prolific all flying around and banging outside their burrows. Not something I’d normally want to treat for, and I’d prefer not to, but he did get stung a few times and has a dog. Any viable treatments? Particularly low impact or even non chemical? He tried peppermint oil and not sure what was the result. I also let him know there’s a good chance it was just because it was the first warm stretch and they shouldn’t be so active as they were.

I’d much prefer that route but I don’t think it’d a species that’s desirable for beekeepers as far as I know. He says it’s been much less prolific, so hoping it “resolved” itself.

Around here there are beekeepers who volunteer for swarms and nuisances, folks call animal control and the officer calls them. But people are dumb (i.e. it’s actually yellow jackets) so, in my experience, the volunteers are very knowledgeable in flying critters which even resemble bees. Just a thought.

Yeah I’m going to look into one today. It’s bare soil where they burrowed and read thats their preference so may put down seed and try to get some vegetation established.
