thinking about investing in stump grinder bandit rg75 Carlton 7015 Rayco RG80 any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have run the RG75 myself and find it to be a very powerful machine, and an incredibly high production machine if run properly, but it is a complex machine to operate, so it’s not a machine just any anybody can jump in to and run with five minutes practice. I am especially fond of the Bandit SuperSweep though, the way it swings like their chippers feed instead of just slowing the feed under load makes it a much faster and more efficient machine, in my opinion.

The Rayco RG80 has an excellent reputation, and a friend of mine ran it alongside the Bandit, but chose to buy the Bandit last year due to the additional features. The Rayco seems to be a higher torque machine than the Bandit with a slower swing, but it takes a deeper cut on each pass.

My recommendation above all though is to demo one of each for a day and see how it runs and what you think of it.

Make sure whatever you get is radio and snake remote controllable.
Good point. The Bandit RG75 is wireless remote or tethered remote controlled, and has a valve body under the back cover that allows you to manually control the machine if need be.

I can’t speak to the others as I’ve not run them, but they may have similar features. Definitely a good idea to look for them.

Thanks for info was leaning towards bandit sg 75 but not sure about tracks or direct power to cutter head also looks really top heavy thanks

Tracks give it excellent stability and traction, but it is a bit hard on the lawns when you’re turning. I think a less aggressive track would help. The direct power to the cutter head is great, it’s far more efficient and therefore faster than a hydraulic drive unit.

It does look quite top heavy, that worries me when I first ran one, but doesn’t seem to be so bad. Still I won’t take it on a steep side slope, and I lower the head as much as I can when driving on any hill.
