Strange Big Shot malfunction

With a Big Shot I can usually hit a leaping chipmunk mid-air at 60'. But today I tried making a fairly easy shot with my back up Big Shot, one that had been loaned out to one of my guys. I tried a half-dozen shots, and in four or five of those shots the line got looped around the sling/pouch as I shot it. I got my old Big Shot out (same model/version), made the exact same shot, using the same line and weight, and I had no problem. Any ideas of what might be going on?

No obvious twisting, but I do notice that the straps that secure the pouch to the tubing are well worn and tearing on one side, possibly causing the pouch to load unevenly. Somehow the pouch must flip around once before the throw ball leaves the pouch. Maybe if I pre-flipped the pouch in that direction it'll resolve the problem.

That has happened to me with both my old wide and new narrow style Big Shot heads. I determined the pouch and elastic had rotated prior to each of the errant shots. Once I manually twisted the pouch back to its normalized position, everything was fine. 77°F here yesterday.

I blew out the stitching on one of the side straps of a brand new Big Shot, right where it is sown into the yellow pouch. While the strap wouldn't do that if it were were one strap, not two straps, it's a royal pain to re-sew the basket back on evenly, and with the same (allegedly) high strength integrity.

Can any of you guys recommend a better basket/strap configuration? I'm thinking of taking it to my local shoe-repair guy to see about switching it out with a stronger buckskin pouch, and with more stable strapping and with a more durable webbing.

Update: I did my own repair job, with the same materials and while the basket is not centered as well as it was originally, it still gets the job done.
