Stihl

Anyone have anything good to say about the 201t? I got one three days ago and have issues. I have read a lot of reviews and bad outweigh the good. Its mostly about power. I know what they are talking about but trust me the power is there. I had it in some big wood and it never bogged down. And every time I was sure it would not make the cut. My issue is it seems like the chain is too tight. I loosened it before I ever made a cut. Didn't help. On my way to the dealer now. I want to see another one run.

We have 3 201T's and 1 200T. It's kind of funny how I get used to the 201 and feel there is no big difference then the 200 gets sent up to me and I fall in love all over again. In my opinion if you want to be happy with the 201 then you need to sell your 200 bc as soon as you become happy with the 201 the 200 will steal your heart.

I have been at a couple of local Stihl dealers recently and have been told there has been changes to the 201 that make it run much better.

Supposedly the cylinder has been cut down to make better power, though Stihl doesn't admit to it.

The dealers say 25 plus tanks of fuel to " wake " it up, though Stihl technical says 3 tanks to seat the rings is all that's needed to make it run.

I could care less if changes have been made or not.

Are the dealers told just enough to make consumers happy and sell product?

There is nothing to substantiate the information that has been relayed to me to say the 201 has been improved after September 2012.

Ultimately if the saw has been improved is not the pressing matter.

Most of us have built relationships with vendors, straight answers on what the deal is with changes, if any,to the 201 are needed, to continue building the product strength.

3 dealers across CT have told the same story on changes to the saw, but Stihl tech knows nothing about this?

I had 2 201s in the springtime and they were horrible, just horrible. Then they got stolen and I replaced them and the new ones are excellent and trouble free. It seems like the first 2 were straight up lemons, or big changes were made to the new ones.

I took mine back to the dealer yesterday and the Tech tweaked the carb. It will absolutely scream now. I hope its right. I can't afford a $650 tire chock

If they have made changes to improve performance then maybe us early adopters need to send our 201s back with a demand for a replacement. I'm well passed 25 tanks and still see the same issues with it.

You should. I like my 201 as much as a 200 now, and I was a devout 200 guy. But my first 201s made me pull all my hair out.
