Stihl pocket chainsaw

Looks a lot like the Bosch saw that’s been around for a bit. Makes sense to use it for actual shrub or ornamental cutting. One handing nightmare though...

People seem to be liking the little battery powered shrub shear that Stihl offers so it make sense that they are expanding to this. Couldn’t believe that my closest Stihl dealer was selling a lot of the 6” battery powered shear.

Might be too little too late for Stihl, but it is good to see them innovating in the lithium sector. It's just a lot easier for a power tool company to expand into landscaping/tree work than vice versa. I had two lithium-only job sites this last week - one for a whole day. I'm using a pole chainsaw, a ground saw, and a hand held blower. I needed four of my 6 batteries before I was done with the all day site. If I bought multiple tool brands I would not have enough power, especially if I skipped a day of charging. I could charge on site, but that is a little intrusive...

I'm not sure what the solution is for these chainsaw companies but I wish them success. Almost feel like they need to be merged with another tool line - they could retain their name brand and get a wider platform for battery compatibility...

Do these lithium Stihl tools have brushless motors, btw?

Yea another tv brand infomercial I saw a while back call "word" made a saw that was the same thing...

It's Stihl's attempt to take back the "lightest chainsaw crown" back from Echo.
It has a MSRP of $2000 and for a limited time comes with a free limited edition orange and white colored iPad.

I really hope you are kidding...
Yup, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Stihl to me is the Apple of the 2 cycle world.
With the move to computer controlled machines now making their way into the industry don't be surprised when you will be required to have a Stihl ID and StihlCloud installed on your cellphone to receive firmware and security updates for you chainsaw in the future. :sisi:

Didn't John Deere loose a law suit over that?

Maybe we can get a whole host of apps for our saws? I mean with the 5g apocalypse of ‘Internet of Things’ I don’t think a computer platform should be wasted just cutting trees...
