Stud Saw. Basicaly Stihls replacement answer to the 056 mag. 056 probaly has a little more stumpin power, 066 has more chain speed. The next step up is probaly 084 or 088.
I really like mine. I use it mostly for milling. I have used it for tree work, fell some BIG cedars with it. I installed the high performance muffler that Sthil has available for it and it turned it into a real beast (I think it is the muffler that came on the 066?). The stock muffler holds the MS660 back.
It alway bring a smile to my face running it.
Good, solid workhorse. We use it for anything over an 18" DBH. As with any of them, you take care of it, the bar and chain, and it'll serve you well. One of those things goes wrong and you're fighting it.
Easy to modify, as in the previous post.
Works great with a 25" or 32" bar. Have some fun with a 16", you'll feel like you're in a Timbersports competition.
Great saw. We use it for stumpin and bucking wood into manageable pieces the dingo. For anything in the 16 to 24" range I like the Husky 372 or the stihl 046 or 44 seeing as they are lighter and can carry a 24 or 28" bar.
Great saw (I effin love this saw), but be sure to put the DP (dual port) muffler cover (goes on in place of the factory muffler cover. The DP cover allows more air to exit saw, which allows the saw to take in more air, which in turn creates roughly 5%-10% more power) on it. The EPA BS is a power robber. (original muffler cover is very restrictive and total shite in my opinion)
