FYI
Steve Sillet & "Climbing Redwoods" is on my TV now !
I found it by accident.

I was not aware of this program previously.
"Climbing Redwood Giants"
(Program is dated 2009)

He's the subject of the very interesting book "Wild Trees".

Ciao for Now ! Greg

Saw the special and read the book a couple of times. Both very good.

Its nice to see that the arborists were the ones who taught the scientists to climb trees correctly too.

Read the book, but cancelled my TV for awhile. The book was good, a fast read. That description in the story of how that guy fell like 80ft. and lived was intense. Sillet seems like kind of a crazy dude..

That arborist's name is Kevin Hillery and he grew up here in NH. I just spoke with him a little while ago and he still climbs trees and runs his own business.

He is 47 years old and amazingly doesn't suffer any permanent aches or pains from that fall that really should have killed him, but thankfully did not.

I think I realized the guy might be a little crazy when I read the part about climbing from treeboat to treeboat naked without fall protection.
A fellow Buzzer, Moss, did the illustrations for "The Wild Trees" by the way.

Related to this show ... it was just uploaded online a few days ago. I started another topic in general and added the video URL. So what we watched on television or cable, is now online.
