steel vs. aluminum

Are their ANSI standards about using steel and aluminum together(caribiners)for climbing? I have heard it is not good to connect aluminum biners to steel d-rings like on older saddles, but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i really don't think it matters, it isn't like you are beating one against the other

I think the thought behind that is that steel contact causes aluminum to rust, but in this case the two metals are not in contact long enough for that to happen.

More mythology.

Worn gear is worn gear. Visual inspection will show if there is wear on the aluminum gear. There's no basis for any worry as long as you do routine inspections.
