static line and grcs?

could you recommend a small diameter static line for use in the grcs when winching. Small because i could get more wraps on the drum and presumably more grip and power? This will be for non-dynamic rigging thus the static line. Any thoughts?

I know someone who uses 1/2" Sterling HTP for rigging line with his GRCS. Strong and great for lifting if you don't want any stretch. Check rock climbing supply stores. There's a place in Asheville that sells different diameter size lines of HTP.

But the GRCS works on a 10 to 1 also!

Its rated safe at 2000lbs because its tested to 20,000lbs.

So a rope rated at 19000 lbs would be perfect

What Norm said.....though I use Puget Sound Ropes' DS Composite....9/16th....19k tensile. The price my local good guy charges me is unbeatable.

can't believe I forgot it for today's rather easy 4 trunked pine removal. Had to use my normal (and old) 1/2 inch double braid for tip lifting leads off the main spar.... but we lifted nothing over 1000 pounds....well, save prolly the butt log, which could well have been 1500 lb...that's maybe 5-1 SWL ratio, as the line is tattered a bit. Time for a new one...anyone want to share 600 feet? prolly .60 a foot, coated.....plus spliced eye...I want a 250 footer....or so....

Got scads of great photos and vid..now to find the time to edit and put 'em up....

Here's a slide show of the pine removal....video? sometime when I get to it....it's kinda jerky....

Back off, you safety police...there's plenty of one handing going on....we're into production, not pussyfooting around and taking all day....
