Stanley Longstaff Remembered

Re: Stanley Longstaff Music Video

Stanley sang that song one afternoon while shooting "The Art and Science of Practical Rigging", at the Atlanta Zoo. I'll never forget it. It was video recorded, so someone has a copy of it.
Tom Dunlap was also there.

Re: Stanley Longstaff Music Video

Thank you to everyone that's written on here. I can't tell you how amazing it is to read all these kind words, especially from so many people who never actually met my father. The photos and videos and movies are wonderful and it's a complete miracle to be able to hear his voice.
I came upon this today when I googled his name because I was thinking about him a lot.
Tomorrow would've been his 59th birthday.
Thank you again for everything, please help remember him anyway that you can. All of us have different memories and scenarios of the great man that he was, but it is all agreed that he was a great man.

Be well,
Taygra Longstaff

Re: Stanley Longstaff Music Video

Taygra, you can rest assure that as long as there are tree workers, and people who work with rope, your father will always be remembered. I did not get to meet him, but I wish that I had gotten the chance.

I will continue to tell climbers and people who splice line, what I know about your father and his legacy will continue on, not only from me, but from everyone whose lives were touched by him in one way or another.

Thank you for coming on the site and posting. We love having you here.

Re: Stanley Longstaff Music Video

I had a very nice conversation in Montreal. He was on the trade show floor talking about some of the insanely small splices he'd rendered. Needle and thread stuff. Such a nice man and like Chris said, thank you for posting. Made my day.

Stanley was a top notch guy. I remember having trouble understanding a concept of a particular splice. After talking to a few people, I was eventually led to him. Called him out of the blue and he set me straight. Great guy, great educator, and a heck of a splicer, too!
