SRT vs DRT

What situations would warrant using SRT techniques over DRT techniques and vice versa? Is it all just a matter of preference?

There are some who are switching to SRT for canopy work, it is probably the future of tree work, but gear intensive.

I still work Ddrt, it's what I know, and break out my SRT only for looong ascents where the time it takes me to set up will be paid back in time saved AND feeling fresher when I get to the branches.

If I've got just a 20 - 30' ascent, It's Ddrt with a pantin into the branches then ALT up from there.
