Hey there buzzers,

I am looking at getting a new rope. I have been using the yale imori which i really didnt care for it had a lot of bounce at first but once stretched it would be okay....anyways.

Do you all have any suggestions for a rope that would be used 75% of the time as a srt working rope and the other amount for ddrt?

Look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Thanks!!

I would get a dedicated SRT rope and use the imori for DDRT. I have used Tchyon for SRT and it was not bad (if you have to have something that is OK for both). I have been using Sterling HTP and have liked it a lot. Just ordered some Kernmaster for myself, never tried it just going on other opinions.

Issue 4 of ArbClimber Magazine has really good write-up on Arborist Climbing Ropes. In it, they pretty much list all of the technical info you would want to see in chart form. This has lots of empirical data for you. They stay neutral and do not make any specific recommendations. Any way you decide to go, this might be a good reference to have.

It's by subscription, but they let you download all of their issues if you subscribe. Here is the link:

FYI, I do not have any affiliation to them, but have a subscription.

Kernmaster. Works well in both setups. Get a stitched eye.

I have heard a lot of good things about Yale's Kernmaster as well. I have also used KMIII for much of my SRT and like it a lot.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I did climb on the kernmaster once before Tony when you lent it to us. I liked it.

I had to pull the trigger quickly this morning on the rope and went with PI.
