SRT CLASS

What about an informal work day where insurance isnt an issue, where we can show stuff, and apply it. I know of a great location, where they would just be happy to get some of the ice damage taken care of. They might even buy us lunch. It would be kinda like a learning, working, low key, rec climb.

You guys could do that anytime ... wait didn't your just describe your typical work day !:p:p

Tchukki it would be great to see that schedule for sure. I am up for going to a more structured talk but if you pa guys or whoever want to get together and have a laid back srtwp talk/climb that would be sweet. Thanks guys.

That is a great idea. Let's do this thing! We should start throwing some calendar dates around...anybody?

I'd be in for that!

Baby Trees!

I can put together a structured class if there is interest. The insurance hurdles will not be as cumbersome this time around as now I know what I am facing and can deal with it from the get go. Would need 10 to 12 to make it cost effective for everybody.

As for an informal day, I am out on that one.

i attended one last year in new hampshire and had a good time with good people and learned some cool stuff too. id def like to get to another one, i feel like i need all the help i can get when it comes to SRT. i know ive posted this before, but over the last year through much experimentation ive honed my SRT system for ascent, which i find to be the easiest, fastest, most efficient way up. that being said i still cant get comfortable working off a single line. i started with the 1st gen rope wrench which felt the most natural to me, rope on rope interface is my personal preference, but i couldnt streamline my system enough for my liking. (this was before the new ISC RW and all the new stiff tethers came on the market.) next i got a unicender thinking that its simplistic design and fast midline attach-ability would be less time consuming, as the main life support connection in my modified frog walker set up for ascent it is everything i hoped it would be... sadly when i try to work off it i run into a problem. (doesnt matter SRT or DDRT) descent is so jerky, inaccurate, and takes two hands. basically i need help from someone with experience... thats enough outta me seeing that ive run a little off topic.

if anyone has any unicender video suggestions or opinions on the "new" RW please message me

I'm the only person at work that uses SRT, so I barely get any outside exposure to it. Everything I've learned about it is basically from the internet then trying techniques in real life, so I think a day with other people showing other techniques and ideas would be great.

What rope are you climbing on? What diameter?

Changes to any part of an SRT system can have huge effects, even small changes. For some people using a rope with a coarser sheath makes a difference. Going to a little larger rope can smooth out use of the Uni.

Have you seen the 'Barrel' and 'Drum' attachments for the Uni? Great add-ons!

I will be meeting with the president of the PennDel ISA chapter next week to discuss a SRT workshop located in State College. Not sure of the specifics, but it looks like it will occur in the Fall. We wanted to put this event on for the past few years. I will be teaching it along with a few other folks. As soon as I find out any more info, I will post it here and it should also be on the PennDEl ISA website and Facebook page.

First half of October would be great Donny. See if those dates will work. Not sure when Homecoming is for PSU though.
