I like the climb rights with big buck pads, have geckos as well, they are nice and light but I have skinny legs so they dig into my shins after awhile in the tree

John where's the caddy pad? Directly under your knee bone at the top of the pad.It seems like it goes both ways with the Geckos. People love them or hate them. I know interface is a huge factor in spur comfort. I got a new pair of 16" with a steel shank and all, because I wanted more support in the arch than my last pair of boots had...but my last boots didn't come up as far on my leg. I thought... Why not have more padding up there? The cadillac pads now press something into my shin and they get pretty uncomfortable after a while. What is the secret to getting pads to work with the high boots? I think the less material between the pad and my shin the more comfortable it is. I haven't made a spur purchase yet, as I don't want to find out I bought into something painful...more painful. I should have gone with a shorter, lighter weight boot...but I like the shank support. I do not like the interface of that boot and pad though.

B-E-A-Utiful! Please do tell me how those compare to the others! Your opinion really counts to me, 'cause you have had them all...and I like the way you climb and gear up.My new spikes....View attachment 29576
When you get them I would like to hear what you think about them in a tree they look awesomeswingdude said:Will do John....they are 390US ( includes shipping ) without the gaffs and ascender...you can make the combo you prefer...you choose which Gecko gaffs you want, american pole, american tree, or Euro...then you can add the ascender or leave it out...you have nice choices...I also had Dale Thomas lower the gaffs holes ( about 15mm lower than Geckos ) so only pole gaffs can be used, that is all I use and the position with the holes being lower give a better offset...I climb mostly hardwoods where penetration is very little so with a closer offset it allows better balance on small stuff, feet are closer to the trunk...instead of a stilleto feeling...
Steve Connally has a nice review of the KKs he just shared with me. He has climbed on the Buck Tis and the steel, but has not climbed on Geckos or others, but he has a lot of details on the KKs and things he done to adapt them for comfort and convenience. When you get them I would like to hear what you think about them in a tree they look awesome
