Spurs through Tachyon

I slipped on the spar and put my spurs through my New England Tachyon today. This was the first time I've done that. I don't see any damage to the rope, but I cannot really see the core.
Has anyone else ever done this? What did you do?

Oh man, tell me about it! Recently re-eyespliced a used poison ivy climbing line I had gaffed. Sucked. It's something that just happens once in awhile. Not often, but probably a couple times a year.

I've done this a few times on my tachyon - never done it super hard. I inspect before every climb and bounce test. It still makes me uneasy.

Id ask the forum member named Fairfield. He has a YouTube Chanel discussing safety questions, does trainings, and seems very in tune with best practices. I'd like to know myself.

I now avoid this by clipping the tail of my rope to my hip

Thanks for this tip. I don't even own a set of spurs yet, but if and when I get them, I think this is how I would handle the situation. It just seems like a fairly Murphy-proof solution.

As oldoakman says, though, my best route might be to go all in at the beginning and buy the spurs with the foot ascender already attached.

I'm guessing that the Powerscender basically makes it impossible to spur your climbing rope, is that correct, oldoakman?
