Anchor Bridge Ropeworks, Knot and Rope Supply, and Limbwalker Tree Service will be sponsoring a two day splicing retreat for anyone interested in learning the basics of splicing 3 Strand, Hollow Braid, Double Braid, and 16 Strand ropes.
The intention of the retreat is to provide hands on assistance in deciphering manufacturers splicing instructions, using different splicing tools, and creating functional products for use in Arboriculture. Discussions on splicing theory and finished product dissections will also be part of the retreat.
Featured instructors include: Octavious Benton, John Hartenburg, and Rich Hattier with the possible addition of other experienced production splicers.
Here are the logistical details:
When: March 12th and 13th
Where: 20 minutes south of Louisville, KY
How Much: $ 20.00 per person (for supplies) as well as volunteering one hour of your time each day to help out on the hosts property. (for use of the land)
Lodging: 750 acres of beautiful Kentucky camping, including an endless supply of 9th and 10th floor accomodations at the Hickory Heights Hotel, the Outdoor Oak Inn, and the Soaring Sycamore Bed and Breakfast. (in other words bring your tree boats)
Fishing, Hiking, Canoeing, and endless Climbing will be available to all for the duration of this event in case you get bored of the splicing.
