Spikeless palm climbing isnt so bad

Cool. I did my first spikeless climb a few weeks ago. I didn't understand that the throwline should be shot from far back so that it sorta goes way past the tree and just falls down. My first throw was perfect (in tree climbing terms) but the ball didn't come down. Nothing I could do would bring it down. I tried to pull it out and the line had wedged itself down so deep it wouldn't budge. I had to snap it to try to make another throw.

See the pic to see what I mean about throwing into palms...

(I was throwling into a 75' palm on a very windy day. I could see this being a LOT easier into a 30' tree.)

I know whatcha mean Nick. I use a 16oz. throwball and overshoot the palm. It's a bummer when you get the perfect shot and the ball won't come down. Sometimes if it's hanging low enuf you can snag it with polepruner and ladder.

Good one Jesse, shoulda got the helmet cam for the palms we did today!
