is the spider jack ok to use on single rope. I've been messing around with the petzl rig and having some pretty good success with it. wonder if the spider jack would do the same thing. most catalouges only mention double rope. wondering if anyone has tried it...in a small short tree perhaps

I don't believe the spider jack is designed to work SRT. Jim the the one major draw back that I've found with the spider jack is the fact that it doesn't run smooth when your rope isn't running strait down. It doesn't feed rope well when your ropes over branches, the way a pulley does.

Yeah I was wondering about that,the uni doesnt fair lead smooth either when your rope is running over branches.I had to run a blakes hitch(tied in with my tail) the other day without a pulley and made me realize how much I take for granted my hitch climber.
