Most of the "Awakenings" here are tragic. This one is not.
In fact considering no one was hurt it's a bit hilarious.

Not much new to glean here other than proper communication.
The groundie that gets hit here is one of the best I've ever worked with. Just goes to show experience and training isn't always enough if your heads just not in the game that day. I checked the LZ, nodded to the person on the anchor, cut the piece free and then watched it sail down the speedline and plow him down like a bowling pin.
I was pretty freaked at first but luckilly it was a really soft piece.
We're all laughing about it now, but lessons learned.

Hope this one is worth both a chuckle and a reminder!

I snickered a little bit. I'm glad everything worked out ok. just imagine if it was a 4 foot section of wood. You should make a new nickname up for him for this one.

Too insulated in his own little world as reality snapped him out of it, rather kindly!

I'm sure he learned a lesson though!

Glad no-one was hurt seriously.

That was funny I could hear some one snicker at the end.

I have a far better one..from 2004, of Eli zipping out of a big fir ---with no control line.....He crashed landed into a log in the LZ and burned the heck out of his hands in a vain attempt to slow down. I was on the camera and didn't protest....he didn't listen to Ian who warned him....Ian coulda quick slacked the line before
Eli did the dumb trick, I reckon. He cracked the handle of my ported 7900 Dolmar, bent a gaff shank, and hurt his leg....I gave the video to Duane Neustater of Arbormaster Canada..new name these days...was told to sell it to him...lol

Was he just bored at the moment or could you tell he was having an off day? I'd still be laughing if I was there. You can't really shout working outside classrooms.
