"Space" Cushing removes a declining Sweet Gum

Nice work guys! I like the lowering of the final stem. I would only say that the face cut could have been much more open (90 degrees or so) to allow control for the full lowering process. The rigging looks as though it drifts with control of a second line, or in basket style. Was it just straight up rigging from the other tree?

Cool man. Your ground men seem to have a real good knack for running rope. Just another question, Why did the second climber go up the other tree? Was there pruning, or just a non-retrievable rigging block?

I was the second climber and was running ropes. I helped Greg (primary climber) out by coming up with the rigging plan and setting the rigging. You see me go up in the video in order to reset the rigging in order to lower the trunk. Switched to a bigger rope and a beefier rigging point.

Dig it. You've gotta love having multiple climbers on the site. It opens up possibilities that would otherwise take so much more time. I've been the only climber for so long (sometimes not, but more often the only climber), and we're finally getting some solid guys that are taking interest.

Cory's role on the job now is to work with our climbers to get them progressing through their skill levels. Greg Cushing just made our "A" climber list after about 3 years of climbing with us.

Most of our 3 man crews have 2 capable climbers on them.
