Kinda stumped. Leaves and flowers remind me of sourwood. Maybe yellowwood? I always forget an overview image.

I can’t get the bark to upload but it’s smooth, looks like styrax bark though.

Should be easy when the flowers open. Flowers could be sourwood. Foliage looks more cherry-like. Rule out Prunus padus and related species.

the bark doesn't sound right for sourwood. I also think of Oxydendrum flowers all being on one side of the stem...and maybe a little less "droopy"?
Yellowwood is a compound leaf.
The twigs aren't right for either...and i don't think they are Prunus either, as I'd expect lenticils which are lacking - especially visible at the top of your first pic.
Sooooo...that is what I think it is not (well, it's not White oak either....). But I'll have to stew on it for a bit and maybe look it up before wagering a guess. gotta go pick up a kid from track practice now though.

Maybe? I was thinking this at one point, and honestly wasn’t sure why. Bark doesn’t seem far off for a young specimen.
Edit: flower buds don’t seem right though.
