Son goes in US Marines tomorrow

Our son leaves for the Marine Corp tomorrow. We drop him off at their office in Beaverton, then they send him by plane to San Diego.

It seems sort of odd feeling with him being with us for 18 years solid, then the immediate transition where we hardly see hide or hair of him locally for months. Especially the first few months of training.

Anyhow, he's doing the one thing I regret: that I never enlisted.

Be sure to thank him for me. The memories from tomorow will travel with him for a life time.

Shake that mans hand for me as well. That is my biggest regret as well, not enlisting.

What is his MOS, has he decided yet?

Thanks all.

When I asked, he replied that he is an O300, pointing toward an infantry duty.

My Prayers go out to your son My friend! My son has been at camp pendleton and will be deployed to Afghanastan in the months to come , were proud of all those how fight for this great country of ours... SEMPERFI. Later in SO. CAL

I think it can be said of all who post on the Buzz, that we appreciate what your son is about to do for his country and all of us who live here. Also to you the parents who watch your children step up to serve. You also hold a special place in my heart as well. God Speed to your son and Semper Fi !!

Definitely conveyed the handshake and thanks to him from you folks. Much appreciated.

It was tough on my mind this morning knowing he was going, but my emotions eased finally. We took him to a Mongolian restaurant for lunch and dropped him of at the office for the Marine Corp to take him in. Sounds like they take them to a motel room tonight, but take an early morning plane.

Sleep might not even be an option - LOL. Sounds like 2am maybe if I heard right.

Semper Fi!

Love & prayers for your Boy, you and your family.

There are sheep, wolves and sheepdogs. I thank your boy for being a sheepdog. The sheep never appreciate them until they are needed and the sheep never realize the sheepdogs are always needed, ready and on the watch.

ThanX again to you and your Boy!

Arrived in San Diego yesterday. Saw our son today. Graduation ceremony is tomorrow morning. They were officially Marines as of a week ago.

He appreciated everyone's wishes and support.
