Solo Eucalyptus Removal

Here comes the pep-talk

Best way to get "out of underbids" is to not get in them in the first place... You do good (or even great work) and you DESERVE to be compensated.. You've paid your dues in this biz... Forget underbidding..

Hit them over the head and come down a little to match another price if you have to, because they are price shoppers.. You gotta look yourself in the mirror and say I deserve $1,000.00/day. (or more!!!).. I AM worthy... and keep saying it 'til it sticks... Fake it til you make it..

Do that long enough and you'll be driving around with a big truck and chipper and a crew that knows what they are doing, and love their job.. All because you charge enough to pay them enough to make them feel good about the work and get them the right equipment to get the job done efficiently etc...

UNderbidding leads to long, hard, frustrating days, creates tension on the crew, and in the long run leads to bad backs and other injuries and burn out... Bidding it high or at least right leads to pleasant and productive work days, watching a 15-18" chipper suck down big wood etc..I'll never do treework without a skid loader again!

Keep kicking A$$... AND GET PAID FOR IT...

How much did you charge for that job?

Re: Here comes the pep-talk

By far the best video I have seen here on the buzz...I love it...all those rigging setups were awesome....and to top it off you released some killer dance moves...great stuff...but really man get yourself a good ground man to at least untie the branches

I miss that 70's Show. Seconds 10 through 30 are perfect for this.

Very impressive Jesse, what I want to know is where I can get one of those high speed bionic arms you use to operate the handsaw. Was that smoke I saw coming from the handsaw?

I know all too well about how the pieces were lighter years ago.
Outstanding climb! how did ya feel the next day?

Not bad. I slammed three big Eucs for a buddy with a crane the next day...then we went back to my job and his crew cleaned up after the two palms I bombed. I had a good tie in on the taller one and was able to swing over and take the whole head along with about 20 feet of trunk. It was awesome!

Today Tim....I feel old and beat up :)
My arm is tingly and my hand is all swollen?!?!?!

Tommorrow I have been invited to a BIG pine removal.
I hope the crane is close. That makes it kind of dummy proof in my opinon. Its good to see you on here more Tim.

Nice job.

I'd still feel wierd not having someone around just in case...but, if you can still dance at the end -

OOO-RAH!

Your right....what good is a rescue plan...job address...cell phone and CPR AND A.R. training....if noone is there to employ it.
I love my daughter too much to do that anymore.
I did a crane removal today for a friend. The shiot I saw would blow your freaking treebuzz minds. I have vidoe to edit and may or may not go into details about what went down. Depends on how many more beers I consume. Complacency can only lead to death or injury. I cant control people around me but I am in control of myself. No more solo work if I can help it.
Love Jesse

Were you working off of Thunderbird Rd? The area looks familiar. (Well, most of the valley looks familiar).

BTW. There is a tree on the S.W. corner of Thunderbird Rd & North Central Ave. You should check it out. It is growning right through a metal railing. When I went to Southwestern College, I drove by it often. Can you I.D. the tree?

This is that wild thing about tree work. You can't deny the sense of accomplishment of a big job, thought out, done well, nothing broken (including yourself), and that great sense of accomplishment your heart, mind, and muscles are telling you. You have a great story backed up by video proof. Every climber and arborist here, as much as they worry about what you did, at the same time has respect for you for doing it.

The #@%& part of it is that it was at the same time a stupid risk. We manage risk everyday so that we either eliminate, control, or manipulate it so as to make it a minimal risk. We do this by training, common sense, and experience. Therefore it becomes a worthwhile risk as the odds are in our favor of going home with all our pieces still attached.

Please, I have great respect for you and your abilities that I will never have. I write this as an arbor brother with my arm around you sharing a brew, DON"T DO THAT AGAIN! Your last post indicates that you know it...mostly.

"No more solo work if I can help it."

Think of your baby girl next time.

I tell and teach people all the time that one reason this business is so dangerous is that because one can do something a hundred times and be fine. But, the last time they do it they get seriously *@%&'d up. It's worth getting at least someone to stand-by, whether they can help out with the tree work or not.

With great respect, bro. Hope to meet you soon, on this side...
