I totally agree with you Stan, I like the sakamini but get frustrated when the strap finds its way into the the foot ascender. Wish the original was still around too. Perhaps the parts could be produced for an at home assembly mr Mumford. You know....diy.....?

Yes I hate it too and I don't close the camera on my foot Ascender and things get caught in there. And don't worry Innovation continues to progress, it just takes time to get all the ducks in a row, especially when there are hunters hiding in the blinds.
 
I use both the original and the mini and haven't had a problem. The hose idea has some merit as it would make the mini strap a little stiff like the original.

Here is another thought, with the way that you are attaching the bungee at the foot Loop, it's possible that that tether is going very slac and when it does it's allowed to push itself into the path of that foot ascender. Have someone watch you on ascent and see what it does, and if you're going to run it that way think about putting some kind of a little micro pulley, the kind that they use on sailboats and such up there to make the movement efficient.
 
I’m planning to tie a piece of hose to the strap for the bungee to slide in. It will serve two purposes, first stop the bungee from winding up in the knee ascender which happens from running it doubled down to the foot loop. And two keep the strap from winding up in the foot ascender like I showed in the pic. I run it doubled over and down to the foot loop now because it keeps constant tension on the whole setup as I’m rope walking. Before I had it looked up to my chest harness in a more traditional manner as you (mr Mumford) demonstrate in your videos but I had issues with keeping it from going slack and something winding up where it doesn’t belong. I think being tallish has something to do with the slack issue. I intentionally ran it doubled down to the foot to mimic the operational function of the original saka and it works great at controlling the slack and not yolking out on me.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny so I plan to climb. The yard is plowed out and I’ve been skiing too much this week so it’s time to hang out at home and mess with the strap.
I have a petzl pantin as well and it too has wound up catching the knee strap. So it’s not just the ISC Stryder. I really like both footies. They behave quite similarly in spite of their obvious differences.
