You should watch the videos of the snow removal downtown Montreal during the nights. They've got it down to a real science. Mini snow plows push the snow from the sidewalks into the street. Big plows push the entire street into 1 big windrow, then the snow blowers load it all into trucks in 1 pass. Quite the coordinated ballet.
