Snake Bite Rope

Maybe this has been posted already, if so apologize please ignore.

Anyway know what the low down is on this new rope. Saw it recently advertised on the sherrill site but couldn't find any additional info on it.

here's the link...

NickfromWI or RichH might know something about this rope.
Sure does look cool. Looks like you would have birds & animals try'n to attack it, thinking it's food.(like the jeep ads)

thanks jammin, good illustration. Suppose it's also the same as say putting a running bowline up to the crotch, for SRT??

are different ropes sold for SRT than for DdRT??

Yes, your running bowline thought it is similar. However, a running bowline is not retreavable from the ground. And, this set up allows "any ol' Joe" to lower someone out of a tree in the event of an injury.

Second: Static lines are best for SRT access for the low stretch in the line. You can use a dynamic rope, but it is bouncy.

you can get info on that rope at sterlingrope.com - go to static ropes - then click on htp 3/8 static rope, thats the same rope sherrill sells they just had a custom color and gave it a fancy name

The color is cool looking but quite honestly I don't like it for tree work. It's too dark and has too many natural colors. Other than that a 3/8 static line for access I think would be great.

In the world of recreational climbing, camoflauge ropes are often preferred. Sometimes we rec climbers prefer to NOT be seen, and the ropes can be the biggest give away. Maybe this rope was made for them, not us arborists?

What rec climbing are you doing? You doing some secret top secret James Bond type of rec climbing with this stuff? Maybe sneaking into some place you shouldn't to climb a giant redwood or the tallest walnut in indiana.

The Sterling HTP Static is impressive, 10mm MBS = 5981 lbs., 9mm MBS = 5049.

I think 9mm is a little too radical for me but the 10mm sounds very good.

Like that Snakebite pattern.
