Slings, spider legs and such, must they be tagged and rated?

But the idea of a name change came from within...not from her. At the same time; why does any college need 14,500 acres?

That wasn't how I understood it. If that is the case I think it is ridiculous. There is already a building with her namesake. Over all I think a name can mean a lot. Davey, asplundh, cornell,Dartmouth,Harvard. Paul Smiths is no different. I have been awarded jobs and opportunities due to the Paul's smiths reputation.

While not a piece of paper that says "harvard"; it is awesome to meet people that either went there or at least know of it..the mantra should read "the secret of the adirondacks".

I understand the need for a sling of some sorts to grab the wood, but around here, if you want it to grab, a steel cable choker is used. I have one for every day of the week...literally... i carry 7 on my truck...2 pairs of doubles and 3 other single sizes...no chain...sorry fellow smittie but no thanks on chain!
Back to slings. Wire rope tends to deform after use. It will develope broken wires which hurt when you grab them. If they don't have a thimble it becomes hard to pass one eye through another after time. They tend to wear out at the swage with our type of work
In our type of rigging there is a much tighter bend radius in the choker configuration than they are designed for.

I learned crane work in trees with nylon eye n eye slings and then moved to dead eye slings and there's no going back. I understand in some places there not allowed to be used but where you can why wouldn't you. I feel I'm to clumsy and just may knock myself in the head when swinging chains, to each their own though.
