sleds to haul logs up the steps

This is one of my favorite techniques to get logs out of tricky places. Jet Sleds and pulleys. This sugar maple used almost all 200 feet of rope to haul it up the rock stairs from a ravine. I put a pulley on my hitch and then tied the end to the tree creating a 1:2 mechanical disadvantage. The truck would go 100 feet down the road and the sled would come 200 feet up the steps and to the road. Twice as fast as the truck too.

I then set a 4:1 on the tree with tongs to load the logs in the back of the truck.

Yeah, this was a perfectly straight shot. I really need to invest in a gas winch. That would be simpler. The GRCS with gas drill is way too slow and not quite powerful enough. The omni block pulleys make efficient redirects when you have to navigate an angle. cell phone or walky talky are good to commute with driver.

yes that's exactly what i'm talking about. Would be much simpler and low key than the trucks. I had hoped the GRCS could be made to work but its painfully slow. With the truck its almost scary how fast the sled goes.
