Skiing

I lived a few miles down the valley from Steamboat for a few years a couple of decades ago. I have fond memories of the place and people.

Not to worry about ski conditions in the North Atlantic area if this article is valid.

Yeh its a cool place Steamboat, must go back there oneday. My vision back then when I visted was to shred the ski slopes on my mountain bike. Once had a possible job offer as a ski tech in Copper Mountain Resort, but these work visa´s are such a pain though. Would love to visit Black Comb/Whistler up in BC.

Did you stay anywhere Rabbit Ears Pass thats an awesome rock.

I spent very much more time on skinny skis up at Rabbit Ears than with my heel locked down on the hill in town.

it's downhill all the way for me!!! i try to get out to vail or keystone every year.... i like vail the best! my brother lives in denver, and i try to visit him at least once a year (of course when there is a good base).

I've got a few good stories about Vail... Never been to Keystone, or Aspen in the winter.

I'm really sure snowboards weren't "out" yet when I lived in the mountains. I'd probably prefer them over downhill skis for riding up to slide down, but am sure the cross-country gear would not be de-throned. There was never anything I could find to compare with a few new feet of powder up at the pass just in time for a day off of work.

I was up to Whistler once. I was up there in July boarding on the glacier at the top of the mountain. I would like to get back there when the whole mountain is open.

What I loved about working with ski season is when people would phone up the shop wondering what the conditions where like , questions such as " what the roads like" and so many times you wanted to say "black with white lines up the middle" We had real poor season back in 91/92 season and the runs where in real poor condition. I think I told one woman once on the phone that the skiers had made all the snow disappear, from skiing on the runs to much, Only to hear my Boss in the background shouting stop Bull*******.

Anybody used the these mini skis called BIGFOOTS came out early ninties, what a laugh these things are. Lost control went head first stuck my head in snow about two feet deep, thought there had been a white out.

First ever snowboard was a Burton Cruise 165 (1991), last snowboard was a Salomon W165 with Pro5 bindings. The joke was I had´nt been on snow for 10 years, just like starting over. Was always regular stance some how I became goofy very quickly.

That looks awesome! Powder all day. I'm drooling a little.

I'm heading up to Whitecap in Montreal (Wisconsin) this weekend. Pale by the standards set in your pics!
