Skid steer choice

Looking at next purchase and open to opinions. Going to either be a stand up skidder with a grapple or a full size with grapple bucket. I'm thinking that I'm going to be limited on capacity with the stand up but a lot more places I could get to compared to a full size. If ya have to pick only one which way would ya go?

If both are available to rent, I'd consider which one will do 80% of the work that you need it to. Rent the other one as needed and as @southsoundtree mentioned you can buy the grapple for the rental unit. Just ensure that the rental unit has auxiliary hydraulics.

Mini for sure. Hands down. Nothing else to consider. I have 3 minis and full size skids. The minis are so strong nowadays, AND if you get one with a grapple that you can turn, you can carry way more brush with a mini longways than you could with a sideways full size. Also, they are so easy to transport. You can put the mini on a trailer with other equipment or in a utility bed or whatever.

I can use a mini on every job, I cannot use a full size skid on every job. For that reason alone, the decision is easy.

Price is a huge factor too. 2 to 1

You may be able to get a heavy-duty BMG for a full-sized machine. IDK the mounting plate type.

A maxi-sized mini lifts lots, and fits lots of places.

So much is market dependent.
