Hi - Does anyone have much info or experience with these new (?) SIP chainsaw pants?

SIP Innovation II

Looks like the saw stopping fabric is Dyneema to cut down on weight. Advertising makes it sound like they are the latest and greatest.
Am wondering how they might compare to the Pfanner Gladiator Cool pants??? They are certainly less expensive than the Pfanners.

Thanks for any help.

my 6.1 pants seem to outlast the pfanners, but they don't have anything fancy like these. I would definitely try them, SIP makes a good product from what I can tell so far.

I think thats the pair I saw a prototype at the ETTC last summer, and they were amazingly thin and light! I'm deffinatly gonna get at least one pair as soon as I find them in a store a bit closer!

Not a complete derail, but slightly-has anyone tried those new chainsaw pants treestuff is carrying?
Cheap, I think china made. Thinking you might get what you pay for, but wondering if anyone has tried them
Apologies to opposablethumb if this is too much of a derail.

They aren't available in the US...You'd have to order them from the UK or Australia.

At Honey Bros., they are just over $200 US, (the class A without rear leg/calf protection), then you'd pay hefty shipping, and maybe some kind of export tax? That's still not a terrible price if they are really and truly the latest and greatest in saw pants.

Hi guys,

I don't come very often here, we were working hard on developping new styles and other markets.
And I don't like too much to come only to promote the stuff. I prefer the pants to do the promotion for themselves.
But someone informed me on this topic.

We are currently looking for better distribution of our latest developments into the US. Especially the Progress Arborist pants and the SIP Innovation II.
We should be able to work this out in 2014.

Just wanted to add something, if it is SIP Protection branded, then it does not come from China. All of our Chainsaw Pants are made in our own manufacturing plants.
Our website www.sip-protection.com is currently under construction, but you can have a look at http://www.sioenapparel.com/EN/default.aspx.
SIOEN is the group that owns the brand SIP Protection.

Regarding the Innovation II pants, yes they are extremely light. But also extremely robust with a 100% Cordura outer fabric. They were tested in treeclimbing for 3 yrs before bringing them on the market.
One thing to keep in mind when buying, as the waist is not in stretch fabric, be sure to have the right fit. With 100% stretch fabrics, you have some margin for correction. Not with these. But they are a lot lighter and ventilated.

Work safe and have a great X-Mas !

These look really nice and it is my opinion that the industry will embrace this tool. Will be watching to see when they become available here.

Paul, thanks for jumping in on this discussion. I have had a pair of the Progress climbing pants for about a year now and absolutely love them. I am what you would call a robust climber and the SIP is the only brand that is available in my size. In looking at the above pant on your website, it appears that there is some elastic in the waist band. If this is so, is the sizing the same as the Progress? If not, what is the size conversion to inches? Thanks for your response, and Merry Christmas to you also!

@oldoakman
Sizing is the same, there is elastic in the waistband, and stretch fabrics on the back and on the knees.
If you need the stretch all-over in the Progress only for comfort, then there is no problem.
If you need the stretch in the Progress for adjusting, then it might just be a bit thight.

Thanks Paul for the response. I will be watching for these to be available here. Thanks also for making them in the sizes that you do. I wish some other manufacturers would do the same.

If you're talking about the Francital then yes. I've been climbing with them for a couple months now. They're wearing well, fit comfortably and move with you in the tree without binding. Very stretchy. Light and really made for warm weather. Of late I've worn long johns under them and they've been fine down to about 17F deg.

Those Stein's look interesting but strange that the video didn't show any climbing with them.

As for the SIP I'd be interested in those at a reasonable price!

Hey treehumper thanks for your response. Not the francital, although those look sweet.
They have some other ones priced at like 60 bucks. No name brand, generic. No reviews either. Probably worth shellin out for the francitals or SIPs or pfanners

There's a review up there now. They look like a pair I owned long ago. Worked well enough but had the same fate as the husky and stihl pants, blown out crotch. For the price though, a good entry level pant.
