shoulder straps for treeflex?

just what to know if all the petzl shoulder straps will work with my treeflex or are there dedicated 'treeflex straps' on the drawing board? been looking at secur straps and the ones with the pads on but don't want to wast my money on something that isn't going to fit.

Hello bobster.

Yes, both the Secur straps and Torse straps work perfectly well.

However, as TreeFlex rides low and I am tall, the Secur straps were at the end of their range of adjustment for me. This means that when I use them as shoulder straps without the Croll they are a little tight.

I am very happy with the Torse straps however. There is much room for adjustment, and they are quick release which makes them very nice to use or not use as the case may be.

Whichever you use, slip the webbing through the spreader buckle between the shoulder blades till the adjustment buckle sits just above the collar bone.

I hope that helps.

Bobster,

I’ve recently set up my TreeFlex for SRT, using the Torse shoulder attachment.

Like Laz’ I am tall and for it to work efficiently you need the Croll low. I’ve tried a few connectors to get it as close to the waist (belly button) attachment as possible; a combination of minor harness / shoulder adjustment together with a final crouch down and synching the Torse seems to do the trick. I’ve tried using a chest harness configuration (you can make one to experiment from a suitably rated and sized webbing loop). This was slightly more comfy but not as efficient and when you are hanging around I did not like the body orientation as much as that from the Torse.

I’ve also put a Absorbica in my system (still not sure if this is of any benefit / useful): just in case I end up with all my eggs in one basket so to speak.

Regards

Re: Treeflex shoulder straps

There have been some questions about shoulder straps for TreeFlex. I found this thread with some alternative points of view. Thought I'd resurrect it for those interested.

Re: Treeflex shoulder straps

It would be nice to have a set of suspenders that would attach right to the saddle. It could also have an attachment point for a chest ascender built in. I have worn the the Secur suspenders and I didn't find them super comfortable.

I use a Tree Austria set up with suspenders. I had to re-make them because they were to big for me. One of the things that I really like about the Austria Duo is that you can customize the saddle with suspenders and/or a bosun seat. It looks like the TFX will improve upon that idea!
