Does anyone here know how to do sewn eyes? I haven't been able to find anything about them. I would like to put some eyes on a couple ropes but don't have the time nor motivation to learn how to splice lol.
For example what treestuff offers as opposed to spliced eyes. Also what kind of needle and thread do they use?

There are a few people on here who have decided to try their hand at sewn eyes, but have done so at their own risk. The bar tack stitching you see (treestuff/grizzley/others) is done by a sewing machine to measured standards for life support.

I'm one of those few, and I would recommend learning to splice. There is no savings of time and the methods haven't been extensively tested. On the other hand if you have confidence in your abilities and use common sense it is doable. There is a thread in the Splicing Forum titled Documenting my hand-sewing progress that will give more answers.

Splicing is not all that difficult and it can save you some money if you do alot of it.
It would be cool to be able to sew some eyes as well for non spliceable ropes and e2e's. A few folks on here have done it with a sewing awl, but there is alot to learn about stitch patterns and counts. That information is not as easily available as the nicely laid out, downloadable instructions that manufacturers have made for splicing.
There isn't much cash outlay for tools either. Other than a sailmakers needle and whipping twine, all of my splicing tools are either things I had laying around or things I made out of things I had laying around. It's definitely not rocket science by any means, just follow the instructions to a T and you'll be fine.
