Sending a Thanks! to emergency crew

Earlier today I smelled smoke. Then I heard the smoke alarm in the basement. When I opened the door smoke billowed out. I closed door and called 911

Two fire trucks showed up

Turns out that the load in the dryer caught on fire. The only damage is a burnt load of work tshirts and dryer that’s a mess. Whew!

Dryer will be replaced.

A question for any fire/emergency workers here. I thanked all of the crew while they were here. Two FD stations responded and I want to drop off a Thank you gift.

What is appreciated? I was thinking of a cold cuts deli tray or box o chocolates

Flowers?

Wow, glad you didn’t pop out to run some errands while they were drying!

I’d do a gift certificate/ gift card to a local good pizza joint. Fire crews sometimes have lunch planned or cooked in advance, so with a card or certificate they can plan to use it, and not end up with two lunches one day and risk food going to waste.
Very thoughtful of you.

Firemen love ice cream. Really love ice cream. Usually meals are preplanned early in the day. We'd go to the grocery about 8am so most food people Brough ended up being a snack and the leftovers get tossed. Home made things only get eaten by some. Going in peoples homes every day shows how nasty some people are and I would personally never eat anything home cooked from anyone but thats me. Ice cream, cookies, and doughnuts are great unless they are all health freaks..

Wow, glad you are ok and only lost a dryer!

I would think anything you send would be appreciated; if the stations are volunteer there may not be people there all the time, so you might send something that will last sitting on a counter a couple days, or a couple $50 pizza shop gift certificates so they can order when it’s convenient for them.

I'm sure any gift will make their day.

Glad the damage was no worse than it was. Just out of curiosity, gas or electric dryer?

Reminds me that I need to replace the high temp thermostat in my dryer. It went out and I just jumpered it out so we can use the dryer, but haven't ordered a replacement yet.
