Sena comm systems

7 years or so ago the first batch of smh10 s that a hooked up lasted really well, so I decided to market them and was the only one selling them.
Last year we had a lot of issues with them which prompted me to try the borrowers which are half the price. They too don't seem to be holding up great either , comparable to present senas . However until something new comes out I will hang with them

We have linked 1 sena unit to 3 blueriders but it seems to be hit and miss so I wouldn't advise it if you need seem less come

I know this is not the case but does anybody else notice that when Sherrill stole the senas from me they went to shit !! Kinda like Treestuff:LOL:

It sucks to hear that. I was really looking forward to getting some for my crew.

Any follow-up suggestions? If I do go the SENA route, what’s the best model? SMH10-D ?

I’m running 4 pairs of the 30ks and a pair of 10smh.

All seem to work pretty well for something that’s not designed to get wet. We do have slight connection issues occasionally but that’s normally people who keep tapping the god dam button

We still like the SMH10r. They are smaller and with a separate battery. The battery only lasts 8hrs compared to the SMH10's 12hrs but if you can live with that they are well-sealed units and don't have any docking base that can cause some problems.

Unfortunately I think you must consider any of the current com systems as an ongoing expense. I try to keep spare units on hand.

I had problems with 2 sets of SMH-10R; in a row. Crazy static. Other people seem to love them. I Guess Revzilla got a bad batch.

Recently switched over to the SMH-10, and I'm quite happy with them. This is my first true month with the communication devices and I feel like they are worth every dollar. There are so many benefits but my favorite is being able to teach the ground workers. I can explain everything I'm doing and why, whether they wanna hear it or not. A good joke in the midst of destruction can sooth the soul as well.

Hey All - biggest thing to keep in mind is the Sena (Korean for "Go Outside") is they have free software updates that most folks don't know about. I know some folks who had super crackly ones, applied update and now clear. There are a lotta types out there - but the for price, warranty, and free updates - hard to beat.

Total game changer when you and your team stops yelling. You will absolutely see increased productivity, team work, moral, and professionalism; great training device. When teaching chainsaw classes it's terrific to coach your students without crowding their work space or "raising" your voice to communicate.

I learned that next year Sena is coming out with a new technology (not bluetooth) that will you allow you to easily pair and link up headsets. Existing bluetooth comms will pair with the system too. Sick. :)

They already have that tech @treebeach. Use the 30k's and they have the mesh communication. Flip the antenna and done....

@treebeach unless you caught word of something different... They are all backward compatible with each other.

Pete can you link them with the Sena’s? I’ve got 3 sets of Sena’s and the last set is for a 3rd crew if and when we run 3 crews but the batteries on 2 don’t last more then 2 hours. I’ll try the blue riders if they are cheaper for that set

I told you sonnetics! I have a applied to be a dealer so may be able to help with better pricing soon.

I

I know I did buy the blue riders I’m using the Sena’s still. Get on that then will ya! ;)

I will get a set to demo and they can become the floating tree buzz traveling set. I really don’t have enough words to tell you guys how much nicer they truly are.

I just looked up the sonetics and they look awesome. I didn't see anything particularly climber-friendly, though.
Am I just navigating their site poorly?
I'm pretty hooked on the protos with the tuck away ears.
