Secret to not having ascenders "pull" on climbing rope ?

Location

Have been climbing for approaching a year and it has gone well, without incident (knock on wood). I've had formal SRT training and enjoyed the jobs I've been fortunate to complete so far.

I use a SAKA knee ascender and CT foot ascender. Every few jobs, post inspection, I'll get a "pull" in my line. I'm sure it's either my foot or knee ascender doing it.

Any tips to minimize this? Of course I always try to keep it unweighted before unclipping, but maybe I need to pay better attention ...IMG_7862.jpeg

You will always need to be more carefull using toothed cams on 24 strand double Braid rope like that.
Kernmantles with 32 or 48 strand tighter covers are better for this...

If you milk the rope back and forth near that spot, sometimes you can pull that strand back into place and won't even notice it anymore.
That's not that bad of a pull or pluck as I call it

I've found over the years that some ropes with a bunch of "pics" as they wear, tend to ice up a little more on me in wet/ freeze conditions in winter compared to new rope. Don't know if it's just that the rope was older and the dry coating is done and dusted or if it's the threads that give slop/ ice something to hold onto more. That's why comin' down in winter I always have a munter or ring on my right leg loop to help strip frost/ ice.
Little pics I just cut off with fly tying scissors if they're not whole threads just fuzz. After 40 yrs, it's never been an issue for strength even with dynamic ropes.
If I'm not mistaken (and that has happened) there were double cammed foot ascenders out there that don't have teeth but just ridges. These might pic the rope less if you are standing on it lots in an awkward spot.
Cheers
