Samsung Rugby Pro

Does anyone in the US already use the Rugby Pro?
Nice specs but not yet available in Europe.

The telephone that I use right now is the Samsung Galaxy Xcover. It has a 800MHz processor and 160MB internal storage that is used for most apps. That's where the limits are right now. I can't install all the apps that I want.

The Samsung Rugby Pro is a phone with a 1.5GHz dual core and 8GB internal storage. That would do the trick on a modern rugged phone I think.

Never mind...

I see now it's a cry in a Ios world.

I just picked one up yesterday. I had a samsung galaxy s2,but was having major battery issues. It would die by lunch time, and was over heating.

With the Rugby pro I am at 8 hours of battery time, and still have 67% of life (with all the same apps on, and leaving wifi on the whole time). Plus I luv the port covers, not more getting sawdust ect in them (and no bulky cover).

I've seen the rugged Sony Experia but I think the glass screen is to close to the edge as it is on the Motorola Defy.
I think I will hold my breath and hope Samsung will deliver the Rugby Pro specs on the European market soon.

I carry my iphone with me up in the tree all the time and it does just fine. I've never busted one in like 5 years of having an iPhone. Dropped on 40' off a cliff while rappelling and it landed into the rocks. The case fell off on impact, but phone was fine.

Does that mean it's as rugged as another phone? Not necessarily. Does that mean I'm happy with it? Heck yeah!

Haha. True!

My very first 'rugged phone' was the Nokia 5210. Not really rugged but the shell kept the internal components out of harms way.

The very first day that I used it I put it in my pocket together with my loppers. The screen of the shell cracked but the phone still worked. When I tried to glue the cracked screen I smeared it completely invisible. Needed to buy a complete new cover.

You have to be a little lucky with your phones in this line of work. So for me a little extra help from the manufacturer would be nice.
