saddles with leg loops

i want a new saddle that has the leg loops, i have the company issued weaver "seat belt" with the butt strap and i want something with more mobility and is comfortable.

i was wondering if anyone has used weaver saddle with the leg loops (not the chinsy leg straps) and floating d's.

i was also looking at the Petzl Sequoia (alittile out of my price range) but i think that is the type of saddle i am looking for. thanks for your help

You want a leg strap Weaver instead of a buttstrap.

Some people like the harnesses with batten seats in them. The Dragonfly is the batten seat version of the Butterfly.

You'll enjoy the easier movement and comfort of leg straps over a buttstrap harness.

Sounds like you'd really like the Kolibri, it has solid plastic well padded wide legloops with a sliding D and is one of the most comfortable harnesses on the market.

I'm torn on a new harness too, I just don't know if I could do without a batten seat. I've used a Versatile for 6 years now. How does the Dragonfly compare in terms of back support and padding dimensions?

Gord, the Kolibri is great if your used to climbing on a batten seat, I used a batten seat harness for 8 years before I switched to the Kolibri, you really need to try one to see how good they are, even when suspended out from the stem.

Ask Reg Coates, he's another long time batten seat user who recently switched to the Kolibri with very positive results.

Its as if it was designed as a mid point between batten seat and legloops. This is due to the molded plastic legloops

The Tree Austria2 is a very comfortable harness with leg loops and with an attachable baton seat whenever you need it. You can find it on Drayer
Svein
PS but I usually recommend Tree Flex these days

If you want a saddle that fits well and last a long time and is a leg loop body positioning device then may I suggest looking into a Weaver saddle called a Bry - Dan saddle.

Gord, I own both a versatile and a dragonfly saddle. The versatile offers a little more padding and way more opportunity for adjustment, however the weight difference is unbelievable with the dragonfly.I tend to use the versatile for removals and the dragonfly for pruning.Hope this helps.

New Weaver Cougar Saddle

My first post here! I just ordered a new Weaver "Cougar" with leg straps and rope bridge. It should be here this week.

I bought it on eBay from these guys:

$239 and the guy phoned me yesterday to get the right size and we had a nice chat. He recommended this site.

I am personally more loyal to Baileys because they work very hard to provide all the latest climbing gear, they donate prizes to our local climbing comps., and their prices are excellent:

Re: New Weaver Cougar Saddle

Kristoffer over at We're not Scared actually does support the local (Texas Chapter) climbing comps as well as supporting local training classes for all types of climbers. As his company gets bigger I'm sure that support will continue nation and world wide. I would recommend him to any climber looking for gear.

****Disclaimer*****

In the interest of full disclosure We're Not Scared is a client of Anchor Bridge Ropeworks. We currently have no involvement with Bailey's but it doesn't stop us from recommending them as well.
