Saddle suggestion

Looking for feedback....
I went through over a year of post here on the board and could find very little on saddles.
I tried the Master II and will promptly return it! I could never get the center of gravity correct and the negitive forces on my personals was just to much!
Anyone have any feedback on the Pinnacle?
Thanks in advance.

The Butterfly is a very popular saddle.

I have a Saddle X from Fresco but I haven't climbed on it enough to give any kind of recommmendation. I do have to say, so far so good. Being ab adjust the waist and leg support bridges on the front allows different stances.

Rick;
I'm happy with the Pro series from Buckingham although there are a few changes that could be made to the hardware.
I didn't have anywhere to go to try out different saddles so like you I bought one but it worked out ok.
TCI is the place to experiment with different saddles.

Thanks for the replys. I think becuase of my build, 215# 38 waist and xxl top, I was really fighting the Master II.
The saddle was actually digging into the bottom of my ribs not to mention the disconfort between my legs. Since I am an occasional climber, I am going with the most comfort giving up some mobility.
I called supplier and they were great about the exchange. Sent the Master off today and ordered the Pro-Pinnical.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi Rick,
You will probably get as many different suggestions as you get replies. But I have the Pinnacle with the bosun seat and I like it a lot. Most climbers like the individual leg straps but I prefer the bosun seat.

When you get it, loosen the leg straps way out until there is slop in the straps when they are buckled. Then after you climb in it for a couple hours, adjust them tighter as needed but not tight enough to 'grab' you. The only purpose for the leg straps is to keep the bosun seat under your butt instead of riding up arouind your waist. They do not support your weight so they do not need to be cinched down tight.

Good luck, hope the saddle works for you as well as it works for me. The only saddle I've tried that comes close to matching it in comfort is the Austrian Duo with auxiliary bosun seat. ALL the other leg-strap saddles dig in (the New Tribe isn't bad).

Re: Saddle suggestion-Fresco X? Tom

Hi Tom
I tried out the FrescoX at TCI and thought it was a great saddle. What caused me to not buy it was the HUGE back support on it. The back must be 12" tall. Tony went into great detail about the fabric being designed to wick away moisture but here in CA it gets so hot I just could not bring myself to get one.
How are your experiances with this saddle?

My X input

I tried the X https://www.frescoarborist.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?view&WC1026767498-35889&WSC1026771505-60843&1068482912-9567

I thought it was quite bulky. I wore it in just a few trees (3, to be exact). There are a lot of loose straps that hang all over it, but those can be tucked out of the way (or sewn out of the way, if you're handy with a Singer).

The back is super wide. I think this would be marvelous if you spent a lot of time in spikes, which I don't. Twice while climbing through a tree, the back got snagged on branches. I can't be having that while I'm climbing!

The good things about it that I noticed: With all those straps, you can get it set EXACTLY how you like it. Once you get it set, it should be nice. I had it pretty comfy on me. The adjustable bridge should make a bunch of people happy! Also, I LOVED the vertical gear slings on the back pad. It has the hanging loops that we see all the time, but it also has some straps that go up and down that you can clip to. It's a very natural action to reach back with a carabiner and have it clip onto those straps. You can see these on the picture on the link above.

Final analysis- I'm one of those people that the Master II fits quite nicely (after a little work under my sewing machine!) The X has a lot of great qualities, but not enough to make me want to switch from the Master II. The X might fit you well...FWIW!

Re: My X input

The X has a very interseting design.
I am resolved to think my size is my problem with the Master II.
The Pennacle should be here Monday, we'll see how that does.
To bad the weather is turning next week, single digits, but I have a tie in set up in the shop, so let it snow!

Re: My X input

Well the Pinnical Pro came, the weather got better and I had a chance to try it out. Very nice. Kinda heavy but the comfort is what I was looking for.
Thanks again for all the feed back.
