Saddle bridge splicing project

We have been hearing a lot about bridge failures due to improper material being used in the bridge, so when making a new bridge for you saddle, what are you splicers making your bridges out of now? What construction rope is being used?

Personally I went over kill with mine. I opted to put on a warp speed bridge. It's been tested over the years and is tried and true and the tensile strenght is way over kill for what you really need. They've been using it on the glide for years and I haven't heard any issues with them breaking or any recalls. It's a tried and true product so that's what I opted for.

Can't go wrong with 'Warp Speed'.

Why are climbers so interested in making their own bridges?
Why not go with the manufacturers product, unless it's a Cougar. In that case, I would opt for a 'Glide' bridge.

Well that's the product I swapped out the warp speed "glide" bridge. The cougar has been up and down with the bridges so that was the choice.

Has anyone put a 'warp speed' glide bridge on a Ergovation or Treemotion? Just wondering how it would girth hitch onto the 'paw'?
I just upgraded from a glide II to an ergovation and I kinda miss my 'warp speed' feeling... the little rope on the ergo just looks so small.

buckingham actually sells a warp speed mod kit for the ergo, john has it on his. Instead of the mini paws, it has a ring at either side, and you just girth the warp speed on just like it were a glide. Looks nice.

Shawn - I have seen the mod kit on Buckingham website. I may go that route... will see how I like the stock Ergo bridge.

PUClimber - I have yet to see one of these 'liger'. I saw you talking about it a few weeks back... along with the 'cougarvation' thread. How did you knot the warp speed? I also thought it might not be great to girth hitch onto the 'sharp' edge of the paws.

Basically I knotted it much like it's on the ergovation. Basically you remove the two webbing pieces with the rings on it from the cougar along with the bridge and replace the pieces of the webbing and rings with the paws taking the webbing through the large holes and then tie the bridge through the holes like the ergovation.

I have had this bridge (http://www.buckinghammfg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=2474&ParentCat=355)on my Ergo for over a year with very little wear. Saddle hours are some where in the couple hundreds. (Yes, I keep track!!)

I was able to get the loops over the climbing plates with a bit of massaging so I imagine the warp Speed Bridge would fit as well.

It is my judgement that webbing of a proper material is far superior as sliding bridge material due to abrasion resistance, stiffness, strength.

When this bridge is retired I will test as to cut resistance as well.

Tony, the link to buckingham website doesnt seem to connect for me... I assume you are speaking of the 'spectra' webbing style bridge?
I am glad to hear that the 'warp speed' will fit over the ergo climbing plates.
I'm with you on the webbing strength. I have used a pulley attached to my bridge for years and this is why I seem to stay with the rope style bridge.
I have a warp speed bridge that is retired and it looks like hell. When I (finally) bought a replacement, the guys at Wesspur scolded me for how long (2 years) I had let my original bridge go... I am a little more proactive these days and do not neglect such important gear! Maybe I am getting older...

Sorry 'bout the link.

Yes, the spectra bridge. It fits over the plates. I have never tried the warp speed, but it should too since they both come with the same size rings. I may be wrong! If it fits it will be tight.
