Russia invades Ukraine

Putin warned the West that any attempt to interfere with Russia's invasion of Ukraine would lead to "consequences never seen." Putin must really be losing his shit because he is starting to sound exactly like Fu*%kface Von Clownstick. Two birds of a feather...
My thought is that is referring to cyber attacks that could cripple the west's economies... we have no idea what they could do if they really wanted to.

Maybe that's actually the plan... crush the financial system with a cyberattack so Claus Swab can roll out his vision of a new world digital currency and we all can own nothing.

And yet while we are sanctioning Russia, specific banks, and individuals, Putin is personally off that list!

Putin unfortunately doesn’t give a flying F about sanctions. Dude knew that was coming, this is more about picking a fight, a really big fight, unfortunately this is just the prelude to something much larger. I really hope I’m wrong.
If the world stands down, and let’s Russia take Ukraine, Poland is right next door, aka NATO.. Putin kicked a hornets nest, and knows he has Ukraine. What’s next?
Agreed. Sanctions will do little more than hurt the Russian people, because Putin and his cronies have surely taken the steps to make themselves untouchable. Unfortunately thats the way the game is played..

I also agree that this could get very very bad. Will Europe repeat the past and allow a fucking madman to dictate their future?

Meanwhile I have my own problems, as my little slice of heaven is currently being over run by the occupying forces of climate change. It seems there is no winning this war?

Can you recommend a news outlet that is not tainted by agenda or overly biased opinions?

NPR. PBS. Supported by a combination of tax dollars and donations from corporations and private citizens on both sides of the aisle. Required to have an Ombudsman who ensures that there are no political biases to stories. Public radio is about as willingly transparent as you can get. I would personally add Al Jazeera and BBC to this list but why not start at home with something that every single person on this forum can access for free if they have a radio?? Turn it on while you drive to work every day.

News = propaganda

It is all meant to and actively disseminated in a way to create a feeling of helplessness, fear, confusion, and most importantly division among the populace.

Can you imagine the problem those in power would have if the populace all looked at them as what they truly are which is our common enemy? Instead they have us completely divided and at each other's throats over non issues while we are taxed and worked to death. The media feeds off of fear which usually has to have a bad guy to demonize. Whether that is a politician of a certain party, an individual of a certain religion, or a leader of a foreign power. Even the poor are horribly demonized in this society.

Personally when I read the news I try to step back and look at what is being fed to me and ask questions: What feeling is this meant to instill in me? What is the greater purpose in giving me this information? Does this instill strong feelings or emotions in me? Could that be on purpose? What group does this make me have negative feelings towards?

If you find yourself vilifying someone or a group perhaps read into the backstory more rather than letting that hook be set in your mouth thereby pulling you in the direction the "invisible they" (media/government) want you to go. Focus on finding common ground with humanity because we all essentially want the same things. Once again, the divisions between all of us are our worst enemy and those are actively planted, fed, and watered by media and politicians.

i read.. NYT, WP, aljazeera, La times, the economist, RT, BBC, der speigal, reuters, AP, cnn and fox.. listen to NPR... various podcasts. stay clear of watching anything as anything on TV is ussually sensationalized headlines with absolutely no content. waste of time. stay clear of reading huffpost, msnbc, and breitbart except for entertainment value. likewise epochnews and newsmax. they sell verifiable lies with no shame to the gullible.

dont necessarily recomend anyone of them in its own. I like al jazeera for the best world news from latin america, africa, asia, and indigenous issues here. Not USA centric. RT also has good world news.

I avoid TV news bassically. and youtube. you can read 10 articles from various sources in the time it takes to watch one sensational headline. I also think its worth paying for news such as NYT wp, the economist, der speigal because reporters should be paid by their consumers as opposed to advertisements. NPR and podcasts are allright when driving.

Before you go off about Putin, let's put Bush and Cheyney on trial for crimes against humanity. Jimmy Carter should be tried and shot if you apply the rules of Nuremberg to his presidency. You are living in a fantasy. America, land of the free and home of the brave.... while the truth is that the US is the greatest terrorist organization in the world.
Why? Why do you write shit like this?
Yes, we know that the U.S. and its allies have been guilty of past aggressions and helping to overthrow duly-elected governments. According to you, based on those atrocious events, we are meant to admire Putin (a megalomaniac) for killing many innocent people, destroying entire cities, and crushing the economy of a sovereign country. So, when Canada attacks us one day, will you still be pointing to what the U.S. has done in decades past, and claiming that Trudeau is a genius for copying the U.S.'s regrettable precedents. So, you'll be fine when Putin shuts down our digital infrastructure and leaves our families freezing in their unheated homes? What past American injustice will you point to then: Oh, Putin only did that because of our abuse of Native Americans? Let's at least try to stay in the real world for five damned minutes.

We should have stayed out of Ukraine... why d we meddle with other countries and show me one example where the US has done anything but screw other countries up. YOU ARE FALLING FOR THE PRO-WAR PROPAGANDA JUST LIKE YOU SWALLOWED THE WMD BS HOOK LINE AND SINKER

Can we just break for a second and find humour in the fact the THE WEATHER CHANNEL is slightly left leaning. Must be all that fake science climate change data they report

why do you keep putting Tucker Carlsons face up for us to look at? that guy is straight up a piece of shit. please find someone else to make your point.
You might be surprised to see how things have changed. I used to despise him, but have found him a much more reliable source of good information on the pandemic than any other news outlet. They have all been captured by big pharma

I'm guessing you didn't see Putin's prewar address in which he uses Ukrainian "militarization" and "nazism" as a justification for invading their sovereign nation. If you had you would understand that the madman known as Putin, and Putin alone, is responsible for what might happen next. Huge death tolls, a large global economic downturn, a massive refugee and humanitarian crisis, and the very real possibility of a 3rd world war..

I can understand your distain for some of America's past sins, but to use them as some sort of pass for Putin's current evil actions is kinda fucked up bro.

That's pretty much it, well said. False equivalencies "sound good" but are actually a lousy way to make a point.

The idea that the "media" is monolithic and not to be trusted is convenient and used frequently to back arguments. To be well informed on world events a person needs to review a wide variety of media sources and use their critical thinking skills to come up with as accurate an assessment of what is going on as is possible without being there.

I can picture Tucker covering arborist news. "So the arborist elites are now telling us single rope technique is the future and we should abandon our Blake's hitches and purchase fancy multicenders. Have the trees changed? Have humans changed? No, of course not! Yet somehow they want you to believe that you must change. You must part with your hard earned money in return for some new fangled gadget so Big Tree can further control the world of arboriculture. Do they want us to believe we can increase our estimates because our gear bag contains a rope runner? Hahaha!"
