RRP and lumpy rope

What's your gig for friction device in crane work?
Many like the ZZ....

You have always given me great recommendations on climb rope. What's your go to with said devise?
TIA kid....

Sometimes, but not very often.
Only because I have ''miles'' of it.
I use an eccentric pulley with a michoacan hitch. Just rapelling so that system works a beaut. I am not a fan of mechanicals anymore, too finiky. A mechanical needs a dedicated rope and adjusting all the time for wear.

I use the rrp and 11mm htp have never had to adjust it for rope wear.

Only had a rrp for a few weeks. Sent it back. Weak spring. I have two of the first ever made runners, made by Kevin himself. I used them for 4 years straight. Different setup. Bollards wear, rope wear, friction plate wear ....lots of adjustment. I still rec climb with them but at work I am choosing an apex. I had friction plates spoon up, then rope creep. So yes adjustment was necessary. Lots of experience with runners. Not just talking.

Yea I haven't had any issues with mine the only time it was weird was when I had some htp that had a really loose cover, I milked it and no problems since. I run the courant squir 11.5 and it stays super round so for my 186lb self it could use a little adjustment to stay optimal it gets kinda grabby and I have to put more force into making it release. I think some of it is weight dependent too, the other guys that climb with me use 11mm htp and 12.7 blue moon interchangeably with no adjustments and it works great but they're like 145 soaking wet.

Think the rrp is a different animal. Has concave bollards made from stainless steel and a weaker spring so not fast wearing. Have no experience with it as I never gave it a chance. All good. Many love their mechanicals, I just love rope on rope, it is my jam. Keep enjoying them, whatever keeps you safe and the passion alive.

Interesting. I've started to use Poison Moon with good results. I'm 177lbs without gear. This is on a new RRP btw. Notch actually replaced the one I originally posted about
