RR slippage

I've looked around and haven't been able to locate the answers I'm looking for, so hopefully I'm not repeating an already discussed topic that I just can't find...

So I've used the rope runner for a while in production work (lots of hours on it) and had no issues with it on my Yale 11.7 ropes. I got the sterling HTP 11mm a while back since I heard great things about it and ever since day one, I experienced slippage when trying to stop on descents. To the point where I've even basically lowered myself via what seems like solely hand friction on the tail of the rope (as in I could smell rubber burning off my gloves; kind of unnerving). I need to replace my latest bit of 11.7 now and keep looking at my bag of barely used HTP, thinking there's got to be something I could do to fix this. Works great with my RW, but not my beloved RR. Any thoughts??

Also, the HTP seems to flatten like a son of a gun (which may contribute to the slippage). Thoughts on that too??

Thanks in advance to anyone with some insight!

Have you checked the bollard on the bird for excessive wear? You can also rotate the same bollard 90*s and adjust it closer to the tip of the bird for a smaller opening. The other issue could be the spine may be worn down to the point that there's no pinching of the rope at the base of your RR. It may be time to purchase a new spine or baby bump for more friction? Just some basic ideas and tips that I've had to perform on my RR. Best of Luck!

Thanks for the response Dave.

I've done some rotating and some slight moving of the bollard to "tighten up" the spacing since it is a smaller line, but it still seems to slip. Maybe I need to "tighten" more? I do have new bollards and a baby bump waiting to go on, but I so like to get every penny out of my gear so I haven't totally swapped yet. Maybe that'll be the ticket, but I figured I'd check the buzzboards first to see if anyone had similar issues with the HTP 11mm with the RR.

The 11.7 still grabs and stops like a champ with the adjustments...Between the slippage and the the flattening, I'm beginning to think more 11.7 (or even cougar) is in my future. However, I still badly want to make the HTP work for me. Both because I've heard such good things, and because I have 200ft of it that I rarely use...

Did you rotate the bottom bollard as well?

Just use it with a wrench when you need a 200 or a second SRT line.
Wrench works with every line once you get a hitch and cord dialed in.

If your adamant about using the htp or smaller than 11mm. You can swap around the lever arm. This means putting the tether bollard where the slic pin goes. That distance is smaller and is better suited for smaller diameter ropes. It causes drag for ropes bigger than 11 mm though. Htp has always been a bit problematic because of its tendency to flatten. Especially if you work the same section repeatedly.
